Aurora Early Learning Center Awarded Grant
Community Foundation Awards One Hope United with $7,000 Grant
CHICAGO, IL (June 23, 2017) — Last December, the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley approved a $7,000 grant to One Hope United for art easels, drying racks, and a new washer and dryer for the Aurora Early Learning Center.
Prior to this grant, Aurora Early Learning Center was forced to use a much older washer and dryer that was designed for residential use. With 10 classrooms in the center, the small size and condition of the units made laundry a daunting task. Typically, staff had to run the washer at least twice in order to ensure cleanliness and the dryer had to be ran multiple times in order for garments to be fully dry. Overall, the appliances were not energy efficient and required frequent maintenance.
Also due to the amount of classrooms and lack of resources, many did not have enough easels to display the student’s artwork. This resulted in some children not being able to participate in activities, taking away from their creative learning experiences.
With this grant from the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley, Aurora Early Learning Center will be able to provide a better environment for all students. Every classroom is now equipped with art easels and drying racks and washing and drying clothing is no longer a tedious task for the staff.
