C.A.R.E. Therapeutic Day School
The C.A.R.E. Therapeutic Day School located on the grounds of One Hope United’s C.A.R.E. Residential Program provides unique, individualized learning experiences for students who may have difficulties learning in traditional school settings. The Day School serves boys who live on the residential campus and students who are referred to the school from local area school districts. The school can provide academic instruction from the third through the 12th grades.
The Day School integrates a trauma-informed approach with students in classrooms with low teacher to student ratios. Individual and small group teaching occurs on a daily basis by teachers certified in special education. Each classroom also has behavioral specialists who assist students with emotional and/or behavioral problems when needed. The school’s educational coordinator assures that students are enrolled in classes approved by their local districts and ensures that the goals and interventions of individualized education plans are implemented.
In addition to providing a rigorous academic curriculum, the Day School also offers weekly individual and group counseling and weekly therapeutic groups that focus on a variety of social-emotional, health and life skill domains. Extra-curricular activities, special programming and computer based learning opportunities that enhance academic, cultural and recreational knowledge are also offered to the students throughout the school year.
“My son attended [the Day School] for about a year and a half. He learned so much more than academics, including social skills, acceptance, coping skills, patience, trust, and most importantly, faith in himself.” Parent of a youth who graduated from the Day School in June, 2015
