Program Purpose

Intensive In-Home Services offer immediate and intensive assistance to families experiencing life crises which put their children at imminent risk of out-of-home placement. The program is designed to:

  • Divert further incidents of abuse and neglect by reducing the risks to child safety and well-being.
  • Prevent out-of-home placements of children by restoring the family to an acceptable level of functioning.
  • Empower families to handle future crises without reliance on violence or ineffective behavioral patterns.

Services Offered

Program specialists work with families to define appropriate boundaries within family relationships, build self-esteem, identify strengths, solve problems and pursue goals. Education and training is provided in the following areas:

  • Anger management
  • Parenting skills
  • Positive communication
  • Problem-solving
  • Negotiation
  • Household management
  • Access to community resources

Intensive In-Home Services offer 24-hour crisis intervention response.

Who is Eligible?

Families at risk of having their child(ren) removed from the home due to neglect, abuse, family violence, mental illness, juvenile delinquency or other such crisis circumstances are eligible to participate in the program.

Making a Referral

Referrals can be made by families, schools, courts, and community and social service agencies. To make a referral,please contact the Intensive In-Home Services referral coordinator at 314.726.4283 (pager).

Cost

There is no charge to families participating in the program.
