Preschool
One Hope United’s Preschool program builds a foundation for your child to succeed in school through hands-on experiences. Each Preschool classroom teaches the following subjects: art, science, math, language, and dramatic play. Within the centers, materials are available for children to use independently or in small groups. If you walk into one of our centers on any given day you will see active learners – children tracing letters at the writing table, exercising self-expression through art materials, or sorting items according to color and size.
Program
features
Social-Emotional Development
Preschool children develop feelings of competence through successfully completing tasks and positive play experiences with others. Social learning includes taking direction from others, as well as being a leader, and using language to promote friendship and problem solve. Providing opportunities for children to appropriately express their feelings is fundamental to the daily routine.
Intellectual Development
Preschool children learn best when they can explore and engage in play that builds upon their existing knowledge. Our approach creates readiness for formal schooling through play experiences that allow children to experiment with new ideas and practice their skills. Within our play-based philosophy, we integrate literacy, pre-reading, pre-writing, math, science, and social studies throughout our program. Teachers encourage children to ask questions, experiment with new ideas, solve problems, and collaborate with others.
Physical Development
Preschool children develop physical strength, coordination, and skills through active games like running, skipping, hopping, and balancing. They also enhance fine motor skills through activities such as writing, cutting, building with small objects, and practicing tasks like zipping, buttoning, and tying shoelaces.
Moral Development and Guidance
Preschool-age children are learning to manage their emotions and behavior. Teachers model and reinforce values like equity, tolerance, honesty, honor, and loyalty through group activities, discussions, and storytelling. They guide children with consistent boundaries, using missteps as chances to teach self-control and respect. Families are involved in strategies like setting clear limits, redirecting positively, discussing feelings, and suggesting alternatives to inappropriate behavior.
What our parents Say
“What impresses me most about One Hope United is the curriculum. The teachers focus on the different personalities and different interests of the children.”
