Doulas
One Hope United’s doulas work with pregnant teens between the ages of 13-19 who reside in Lake County, IL. Doulas are trained and experienced childbirth coaches who provide physical, emotional, and educational support throughout the last trimester of pregnancy, during labor and delivery, and for the first two months after birth.
Services
We Offer
Our doulas provide research-based information on topics including, but not limited to:
- Healthy pregnancy
- Fetal development
- What to expect during labor and delivery, such as comfort techniques, labor pain management, and interventions
- Prenatal and postnatal bonding
- Infant care
- Family planning
- Breastfeeding
Community-based doulas screen participants for prenatal and postpartum depression, provide links with community resources, and promote continued education.
This service is often provided as an addition to home visiting services through Healthy Families Illinois or Parents As Teachers.
Who is Eligible?
- Pregnant teens between the ages of 13-19
- Must reside in Lake County, IL
We serve the communities of Gurnee, North Chicago, Waukegan, and Zion.
Cost
There is no cost to families in this program.
