One Hope United’s Family Legacies

One Hope United's Family Legacies

On October 8, 2025, we celebrated One Hope United’s 130th anniversary and the legacy that OHU has created within the communities we serve. Over the last 130 years, we have continued to advocate for the safety, hope, and livelihood of children and families throughout Illinois and Florida. And we are honored that this mission has touched so many of our community members and staff.

First, hear from McKayla and Felice Harnden. Felice’s daughter McKayla attended OHU’s Busy Bee Children’s Center as a child. Now, Felice and McKayla both work at Busy Bee, and McKayla’s son now attends the very same daycare program she once did. Together, their story shows how OHU’s legacy continues to empower families through child development, early learning, and supportive resourcesgiving parents peace of mind knowing their children are safe and cared for.

Next, meet Denise and Dinata Herron. Denise started at OHU 33 years ago and now her daughter Dinata joined the team! Denise currently serves as an Intensive Placement Stabilization (IPS) Supervisor, helping children in foster care to build coping skills and strengthen family connections. After attending OHU’s Early Learning Center as a child, Dinata was inspired by her mom to continue her career at One Hope United as an adult. Dinata now works as a Conscience Community Network (CCN) Wraparound Family Support Specialist, supporting youth and families through collaborative, community-based care.

Finally, meet Jazlyn Aranda. Jazlyn began her journey at OHU as a parent when her children attended our Elgin Child and Family Resource Center. After having a phenomenal experience and looking for a career change, Jazlyn decided to make the leap and apply to One Hope United as an Assistant Teacher. Now, Jazlyn serves as a Lead Teacher and is close to her children every day.

We are honored to continue the OHU legacy through the families we serve and the families that serve alongside us. Here’s to 130 more years of impact!
